If SAMSARA was the dark, AKHET is the light. SAMSARA was reconstruction — taking what already existed and breaking it open. AKHET is construction. Where SAMSARA found beauty in the discarded, AKHET builds new silhouettes from raw fabric and pigment.
For this collection I shifted the source. Instead of thrifted finished garments, I sourced deadstock rolls and scrap fabric. Instead of cutting up what existed, I started building from scratch — pinning dresses, drafting silhouettes, advancing my sewing and construction.
The other shift was color. I moved from the metallic + crystalized + sumi ink language of FW25 into a fully natural dye practice. Madder root. Oak gall. Volcanic ash. Walnut hull. Iron sulfate. Pigments pulled from earth, bark, mineral, root. Each recipe a small alchemy — water, heat, time, iron — soaking fabric until the color is in the fiber, not on it.
AKHET was also the first time the studio left New York. We shot in Brazil — the Burn, the beach, traveling and on the go. The pieces became part of the landscape they were photographed in.
