Not open to everyone
The partner-brand path comes first and has to be solid before this one scales. Applications are read as they arrive, and a small number of stores get built by hand in the meantime.
This is the path for someone with products and no checkout. We build the store with you, list it, and then hand you the keys. The end state is a store you control and could take elsewhere, which is the point rather than a concession.
What you need before applying
Not much, but the first two are non-negotiable, because they are the things we cannot do for you.
- Product that exists. Made, sampled, or ready to produce. Not a concept.
- A way to fulfil. You ship it, or it is print-on-demand. We do not warehouse.
- Images, or the ability to get them. If you do not have them, say so in the application. Shoots are one of the things Vers Capital funds.
- Prices you have actually worked out. Landed cost, shipping, and what you need to keep.
- An identity, even a rough one. A name, and some idea of the look. We can build the rest.
What exists today
The parts of the surface that are real, and that a store launched this month would actually get:
- A brand page at
paythedolls.com/shop/<your-brand>, built to the house design system. - Products, variants and media on the marketplace catalog.
- Checkout on PTD, with your cut landing in your own connected payout account at the moment of charge.
- Order and payout visibility.
- Editorial support: a launch feature, and placement in the marketplace.
What is not built yet
- Self-serve vendor dashboard. During the pilot every store is administered by hand, by us.
- Print-on-demand integrations. No POD provider is wired in.
- Label printing and carrier accounts. You arrange your own shipping.
- Self-serve refunds and customer messaging. Handled manually, through us, for now.
How a build actually goes
| Stage | What happens | Whose time |
|---|---|---|
| Apply | The form on /sell-with-us. Rolling review, 5–7 days to a reply. | Yours, 10 minutes |
| Call | What you sell, what you need, whether this path is honestly right for you. | Both, ~30 minutes |
| Scope | One page: pages, product count, assets, and who supplies what. | Ours |
| Build | Brand page, catalog, payouts. You supply copy and images as we go. | Mostly ours |
| Test | A real order, start to finish, before anything is announced. | Both |
| Launch | Listed, featured, and live in the marketplace. | — |
The handover
The end state is a store you self-manage and eventually self-host. We build it out so it works, then hand over control rather than holding it. A platform that only functions while you are captive is the thing this one was built to replace.
Concretely, and true from day one rather than after a handover: you own the brand, the products, the images and the customer relationship. You can be unlisted within 24 hours. Nothing about the build creates a claim on any of it.
What it costs
Beta, by application, with no published rate. The build is not being sold as a service at a price today, which is exactly why the intake is an application and not a checkout. Once you are live and selling on PTD, the marketplace fee is the same flat 6% every seller pays. See Fees.
